Paint-a-Thon
The Paint-a-Thon is Rebuilding Together Valley of the Sun’s (RTVOS) largest community service program. This community effort engages over 3,000 volunteers annually in hands-on neighborhood revitalization in the Valley and across the state.
Through our efforts to paint the exterior of owner-occupied housing for low-income homeowners we positively affect a sense of pride in less-affluent neighborhoods. Moreover volunteers feel a sense of accomplishment after their house assignment is complete.
The 2012 Paint-A-Thon is on Saturday, October 27th this year. This program is supported by community organizations, local business, and our corporate partners. All the labor is provided by thousands of generous community volunteers.
This is a great team building opportunity for organizations, small groups and businesses. You will learn to work as team and provide service to the community all on one day. In 5 years, 560 low-income elderly and disabled households have had their home painted through the Paint-a-Thon program. To qualify the applicant must own the home, be 65 an older, or disabled, and earning under 50% area median income.
