Senior Fall Prevention Services
Senior Fall Prevention Services (SFPS) offers services to homeowners throughout the year. This program provides home safety modifications which reduce household hazards and provide greater accessibility in the home. Injuries caused by household hazards, such as an inaccessible bathtub, enforce financial and psychological strain on individuals who are elderly or disabled. This program is a home safety resource for elderly and disabled clients of all incomes. Individuals with incomes under 50% area median income can receive this service for free.
This program engages volunteer home safety specialists to provide basic home modifications including: grab bars, shower benches, handheld shower heads, raised toilet seats, wheel-chair ramps, etc. Home safety modifications are the first step to reducing the risk of falls, but will not eliminate fall injury risk. We encourage our clients to stay active, have prescription medications checked regularly, and get regular eye exams.
